ABOUT CONSCIOUSLY EM YOGA
A message from our founder
I remember walking into my first yoga class at the age of 15, not really knowing what to expect, but since that first session, I’ve been hooked. My yoga practice was my saviour guiding me throughout the pandemic so in 2022 I embarked on the journey to India to participate in a 200 hour teacher training course on a mission to deepen my understanding and be able to share something that has changed my life. Since then, I have been teaching online classes, conducting workshops and immersing myself in further study. My speciality is in women's health but I also have male students in my classes. Yoga is for everyone no matter their background, religion or body type!
I am now a certified yoga teacher with over 650 hours from the awarding body of Yoga Alliance USA, 85 hours of which are in pre and post natal yoga. For the past 2 years, I have been deepening my knowledge by studying Indian and yogic philosophy on the path of jnana yoga.

So what has yoga done for me?
Growing up with slight spasticity, skeletal problems in my hips and back and mild scoliosis, I always struggled with any kind of sport or PE at school. Like most people, I initially came to yoga as a physical practice but as I dived deeper into my studies I have discovered that it is so much more than that. My yoga practice has provided me with confidence to do things I never thought I’d be able to do, to try new things and has massively increased my self awareness. All of which are translated off the mat as well. In some situations, such as headstands, I think I am the only one who can tell you that I always have to catch my balance as I lean towards one side because of my spinal problems. During PE at school I could never stand on one leg without support, now, I know I can stand on my left (my stronger side) but it is very difficult on my right. This deep self enquiry has taught me more about my body than anyone else ever could. As the philosophy says, only through knowing yourself, will you ever be able to know the world. And the best thing about yoga, you don't have to be good to start! It is a practice after all.

I created Consciously Em Yoga as I am inspired to share all the wonderful benefits I have received and more. My mission is focused on a holistic way of looking at yoga, encompassing the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the practice. Classes and workshops involve asana (the physical postures), pranayama (manipulation of the life force - breath) and meditation. It also includes lifestyle and how to apply yoga on and off the mat.
